How to Save an Email to Notion

A receipt, a booking, a decision buried in a thread — some emails you want to keep somewhere you'll actually find them. This guide covers how to save an email to Notion, from a one-click clip of the open message to the manual copy-paste and forwarding routes.

The manual options — and where they fall short

Copy-paste loses the structure. Selecting an email and pasting it into Notion drops the sender, subject and date, mangles quoted replies, and turns a formatted message into a flat block. You also lose the link back to the original.

There's no simple "forward to Notion" address. Unlike a few dedicated inboxes, Notion doesn't give most workspaces an email-in address that turns a forwarded message into a database page. People wire this up with automation tools (Zapier, Make), which means an account, a paid tier, and a setup you have to maintain.

Print-to-PDF is a detour. You can print the email to PDF and import that, but now it's a file attachment you can't search or edit inside Notion — and it's two extra steps every time.

Save an email to Notion in one click with Clipno

Tips and common pitfalls

• Six providers are recognized as Email. Gmail, Outlook (Live / Office / 365), Yahoo Mail, Proton Mail, QQ Mail and 163 Mail are auto-tagged as the Email type. Other webmail still clips as a normal page.
• Save the whole thread from the open message. Open the conversation you want in webmail first; Clipno reads what's on the page, so expand a collapsed reply if you want it included.
• Newsletters have a web version. Many newsletters link to a browser version — open that and clip it as a normal article if you'd rather keep the full layout.
• On iPhone or iPad, the Clipno iOS app and Shortcuts save web pages on the go, though clipping a specific webmail message is most reliable from the browser extension.
