Configure capture defaults, AI summary prompts, and settings sync across your account
Choose what happens when you save content, such as extracting image text, generating an AI summary, or saving the article alongside a highlight. Changes are saved automatically; there is no separate Save button.
Where to find settings
- Browser extension: open the Clipno sidebar and click the Settings gear. Settings open in a new tab, with General and AI Prompt sections.
- Web dashboard: sign in and open Capture settings to adjust tags, AI features, and summary prompts.
Save article on highlight and Show Note Editor are available only in the extension settings.
General settings
The names below match the extension. When you have no saved preferences, all seven options default to on. Pro features still require an eligible subscription.

Why is the article still saved when “Save article on highlight” is off?
If your Notion template has a separate highlights database, turning this off lets you save highlights and notes on their own. Without that database, Clipno still needs a resource page to hold the highlights. It reuses an existing matching resource page when available. See Highlights and notes.
Adjust a single save
Settings define the defaults. In the extension’s capture form, you can select or clear AI summary, video transcript, or image text extraction for the current save only, without changing those defaults.
Options depend on the content. A video may show the transcript option, while an image post may show text extraction; not every webpage shows every option.
Free accounts can also use these three features within their available quotas. Video transcripts and image text extraction share one quota; AI summaries and mind maps share another. When a quota is exhausted, the corresponding option becomes unavailable. Turning on a default does not override quota limits. See Plans and pricing.
AI summary prompts
Pro users can customize the language, length, and structure of summaries in AI Prompt in the extension, or AI summary prompt in the dashboard.
The two prompt types are saved separately:

Each prompt allows up to 2,000 characters. Shorten an overlong prompt before it can be saved. Changes apply to future summaries; they do not regenerate content already saved in Notion.
For example: “Summarize in English. Start with a short overview, then list three key points. Preserve important numbers from the source.”
Click Restore default, or clear your custom text, to use the built-in prompt again. AI summaries also work without a custom prompt.
Saving and syncing
The extension first saves settings in the current browser. Once signed in, it syncs them to your Clipno account. The extension, dashboard, and app can share tag, AI feature, and summary prompt preferences when using the same account.
Look for Synced at the top of the extension settings page to confirm the upload has finished. If you see Sync failed, use the retry button. Reopen the extension settings page to retrieve changes made on another device.
You can adjust local extension options while signed out, but they will not upload to your account. Custom AI summary prompts require sign-in and Pro access.
Account and Notion authorization
Capture preferences are separate from Notion authorization. Before saving content, sign in to Clipno, authorize Notion, and configure your destination template. See Get started and Template authorization.
